David Price
David Price claims that "abandoned by God to indulge in every whim we hurtle towards catastrophe and destruction. No super hero Jesus or Mohammed can save us now."
He dwells on images from the past, finding strange comfort in the realization that mankind's state of fear and terror is a condition not of our time, but of all times - eternal and perpetual.
In his art, he draws on historical images but reworks their themes and ideas, in order to bring them into closer focus. His most recent work utilizes the old technique of copper plate etching that, despite its historical place at the dawn of industrialization and mass production, is in itself slow, laborious, meditative and intense. Such a process allows the artist to engage with a sense of history and passing Time, reaching backwards to access a state of darkness and fear, and drawing up images from its depths.
