Sachiko Watanabe
A recent ceramics graduate from Camberwell College of Arts, Watanabe’s inspiration for Breeding Garden comes from botanical shapes found in urban spaces. The artist is fascinated by shape and takes photographs of any interesting formations she finds. Using the photographic trace as a point of departure, she works her interpretation into clay. Breeding Garden is a lush recreation of a bizarre botanical world rich in sensuous surfaces, with intense colours and intricate patterns.
