Depicting the historic ‘orange and cream’ interior of the building which has served as a synagogue since 1854 the print embodies the community of the place through listing over 250 individual worshippers whose names appear on commemorative plaques . Cartouches around the border of the picture contain depictions of significant items of ‘Judaica’ and the text of the synagogue’s original declaration underpins the image.
