These pieces are the latest in a series that is exploring the connection between consumerism and culture (inspired in part by how Warhol explored the same question with the Brillo and Campbell Soup Can paintings). Does culture drive consumerism or vice versa? These pieces are constructed from repurposed Nike and Puma show boxes with shredded photographs. These materials are layered on top of completed paintings underneath. The title is a tongue and cheek ode to Agnes Martin’s line paintings.
