This particular white pine bonsai is a survivor of the Hiroshima bomb, housed at the time, only a couple of miles away in a nursery.

It is almost 400 years old and was gifted to the National Bonsai and Penjing Museum in Washington D.C by Masaru Yamaki in 1976 on the bicentennial celebration of the United States
