"The golden age of classical architectural drawing coincided with an immense fascination in Europe with the Far East. In emulation of the spirit of these types of drawings, I wanted to come up with an idea that similarly tapped into the Western interest with what is going on in Asia today. I began scouring the news, and eventually settled on stories of Bitcoin mines being built in isolated rural areas of China, where electricity could be bought cheaply. Cryptomining had just been banned at the time, but the practice continued in clandestine operations. The stories also covered an environmental angle, as gargantuan amounts of electricity were being used to power the cryptomines."
