The Red Velvet Hound Gossaert Diorama is a re-imagining of The Adoration of the Kings by Jan Gossaert a French Renaissance painter born in 1478. The depth, the colour and the highly detailed oil painting drew Kristjana to this work and she imagined providing the stage for a riot of birds and mammals border with red velvet curtains. This exploration allowed her to create a diorama with the depth that makes the multiple layered work and creating a whole new feel. Each of the 6 layers is hand and laser cut and slotted into a bespoke dark brown wooden frame with double anti-reflective glass.
