Susan Stockwell

Susan Stockwell recycles everyday materials to comment on issues of ecology, geo-politics, and global commerce. Maps allow her to identify society’s networks of power and communication. Jerusalem re-uses obsolete computer components to map Great Britain, raising questions about online and offline communities, and the physical cost of technological change. Her maps of China and Japan highlight the colours, emblems and products that we associate - consciously or subconsciously - with different countries around the world.

Susan's exhibition Sea-Markings is now open at The Royal Shakespeare Company, Stratford, where she is artist in residence
