Loraine Rutt | The Royal Geographical Society & Homo Faber Biennial 2024!
Our fabulous ceramicist Loraine Rutt has recently completed a residency at The Royal Geographical Society, and is currently exhibiting at the Society with her new show 'Mapping Earth'.
Loraine was invited by the Director of the Society, Professor Joe Smith, to create a collection of works in response to the RGS' extensive and diverse collection of maps and geographical studies, which have inspired her work for decades! Such a full circle moment!
These works are currently being displayed in the Director's Gallery, and Loraine will be giving an artist talk, 'Mapping Art' taking place on her birthday, as part of the RGS-IBG Annual International Conference 2024!
Excitingly, Loraine has also been selected to exhibit a collection of her pocket globes in the upcoming Homo Faber Biennial this September in Venice!
With art direction from Luca Guadagnino and Nicolò Rosmarini, this series of exhibitions will celebrate incredible international craftsmanship as a lens through which to experience the joys and complexities of human life.
Loraine's hand-crafted globes have been carefully selected by the Michelangelo Foundation for this biennial, and we couldn't be prouder!
