We're pleased to announce that three of our artists have been selected for this year's Royal Academy Summer Exhibition! Adam Dant, Lawrie Hutcheon, and Stephen Walter are all exhibiting in the show, co-ordinated this year by Farshid Moussavi OBE RA. Congratulations to all the artists that have work in the exhibition!

 

 

Adam Dant's 'Turner's London' and 'Catipal City' are hung together in Gallery IV, curated by Christopher Le Brun PPRA. 'Turner's London' celebrates J.M.W Turner's 250th birthday this year, detailing all of the significant spots around the City of London that impacted Turner's life and career! 'Catipal City' also explores London town, but in a 'cat-ographic way', mapping out the city through it's iconic and historical cats!

 

 

For the 'J.M.W Turner 250 Series' at The Porterhouse pub in May celebrating Turner's 250th, Adam unveiled a 10-foot version of his 'Turner's London' map, and created a mini tour of Turner's London, taking you through significant sites around the Covent Garden area. Snap a photo at each location to get a free bottle of Turner's Porter to enjoy in the Porterhouse! 

 

 

In Gallery I, Richard Wilson RA has chosen Lawrie Hutcheon's two lenticular works 'Metropolis' and 'Meridian Flux', which explore the principles of colour and visual illusions. With these works, Lawrie has also played with perspective, branching into 3D geometric shapes which protrude from the wall and morph as you walk around the room.

 

 

Stephen Walter is exhibiting a new original drawing 'Rewilding 2', inspired by winter walks in dense woodlands around Britain and abroad, and the gothic beauty of these environments. Find Stephen's piece in the Large Weston Room, hung by Helen Sear RA.
