Sweet Dreams by David Spiller
Introducing 'Sweet Dreams', a new limited edition silkscreen print from the late David Spiller, released by the David Spiller Estate!
David Spiller | Sweet Dreams | 2025 | 23 colour silkscreen printed on Somerset Satin 410gsm paper with hand-torn edges | Limited edition of 125 | Signed, numbered, and embossed by the Estate, with full COA | Image size - 79 x 79 cm | Paper size 93 x 95 cm | £1,300 (unframed)
A frequent feature in David Spiller's work, Mickey Mouse is the focus of this piece, maintaining Spiller's distinctive bold style, and referencing the Pop-Art and cartoon influences which are central to his practice. 'Sweet Dreams' is dotted with areas of graphic, geometric shapes and opaque colour, again visually suggestive of Pop artists like Lichtenstein or Blake.
As photographed below, Spiller covered the piece with line drawings and hand-written text from poetry, novels, and love songs, including Bruce Springsteen's 'If I Should Fall Behind', Gene Vincent's rockabilly hit 'Be Bop A Lula', and David Gray's 'Sail Away'.
Energetically emblazoned with these classic romantic sayings and sentiments, and paired with the nostalgia of a childhood cartoon icon, this piece embodies the sentimentality, comfort, and joy that is at the heart of David Spiller's art.
We're thrilled to be exhibiting this new edition from David Spiller for the first time at the London Original Print Fair 2025, in celebration of the 40th Anniversary of the fair!
