Jamie Lau

Jamie Lau uses photography, video, installation and sculpture to explore ideas concerning mortality. Inspired by stories from literature, religion, personal history and the media, his working process involves an allegorical reworking of this source material to create anticipatory scenarios and symbols. To date, passages from Dante’s Inferno, the third day of Genesis, the rescue of the Chilean miners and the recent destructive earthquake in New Zealand have been key triggers in the artist’s work.
