Michael Azgour
Michael Azgour (b. 1979, California) is a San Francisco based artist, whose painting practice explores the relationship between modern observational and figurative painting, and digital technologies.
Using thick, gestural yet considered brushstrokes, Michael builds scenes that are both pixelated and fluid, with figures repeated, distorted, or hidden in the paint, as if the scene has glitched and frozen. Memory and individual experience through the lens of modern technologies and social media are explored, particularly how "our perceptions are based on an abstract representation of reality."
