Gary James McQueen created the original Vanitas Skull artwork as the hero image for the BAFTA nominated "McQueen" film, paying homage to his late uncle and mentor Alexander Lee McQueen. The piece comprises a physical sculpture made from resin completed with gold leaf finish, featuring a composition of flowers, birds & moths, which work in unison to form a silhouette. The flowers dying inside the skull’s framework set a tone that is melancholic and romantic illuminating beauty in the mystical and macabre.
